The rock world is mourning the loss of a legendary guitarist, as Phil Campbell—longtime member of the iconic heavy metal band Motörhead—has died at the age of 64.
Campbell passed away following complications from a “complex, major operation,” after what his family described as a long and courageous battle in intensive care.
His death was confirmed in a heartfelt statement shared by his sons, who remembered him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, affectionately known as “Bampi.”

During his time with Motörhead, Campbell contributed to 16 studio albums and helped define the band’s signature heavy metal style, earning recognition as one of the genre’s most influential guitarists.
After the band disbanded, he continued his musical journey with Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, a group he formed with his three sons, keeping his passion for rock alive on stage and in the studio.
In the weeks leading up to his death, Campbell had been forced to cancel tour dates due to health concerns, signaling the seriousness of his condition.
