My husband started to smell really bad

My husband started to smell really bad… I mean, REEK. I made an appointment for him with the urologist and decided to go with him for support.

He went into the doctor’s office and the doctor closed the door.

Five minutes later, the doctor comes out and his face turns red when he sees me. Doc (barely holding back laughter): You might want to go in and see for yourself.

Me: ‘Doctor, what’s going on? Why are you laughing?’ Then my husband comes out.
He: Honey… I’m not sure how to say this… But I…

“…I left a sandwich in my underwear drawer.”

I stared at him, utterly dumbfounded. “You WHAT?”

He scratched the back of his neck, his face as red as a tomato. “Okay, so… remember last week when I was watching the game, and you kept calling me to take out the trash? I got distracted and shoved the sandwich I was eating into my drawer for ‘just a second’ to get up. Then I totally forgot about it.”

The doctor, still standing nearby, was now openly chuckling. “Turns out, a rotting sandwich can do a lot to a person’s hygiene.”

I blinked, trying to process what I was hearing. “So, you’ve been walking around smelling like a walking compost bin for DAYS because you forgot a sandwich in your underwear drawer?”

He nodded sheepishly. “I couldn’t figure out where the smell was coming from. I thought it was… you know, me. That’s why I agreed to come here.”

The doctor shook his head, laughing. “I’ll admit, in my years as a urologist, this is a first. But hey, at least there’s no medical issue.”

By now, I was torn between wanting to laugh hysterically and wanting to throttle him. “Do you realize how embarrassing this is? You had me thinking you were dying!”

He gave me a sheepish grin. “At least now I know I’m not.”

I rolled my eyes, but a small smile crept onto my face. “You’re cleaning that drawer when we get home. And I mean deep cleaning.

“Fair enough,” he said, relieved.

As we walked out of the doctor’s office, the receptionist gave us a curious look, clearly wondering why we were both laughing as we left.

From that day forward, anytime I wanted to poke fun at him, I just asked, “Hey, any sandwiches in your drawers lately?” It became a running joke in our marriage—one that neither of us would ever forget.
