A woman with cancer marries in a hospital

Love, laughter, and happy tears should be present throughout the wedding day.

These standards apply to the tens of thousands of marriages that happen every day. Sadly, David and Heather Mosher’s marriage was anything from typical.

When Heather and David first met in 2015, they experienced “love at first sight.” The pair met while taking a dance class and realized from away that they were meant to be.

Dave proposed to Heather on December 23, 2016, by getting down on one knee. He did so as the two rode in a horse-drawn carriage, in the calm ambient of the street lights.

Although the happy news for the pair would soon be eclipsed, Heather happily replied yes.

Heather told David that she had a lump in her breast that had the potential to be malignant on the day they got engaged.

Five days later, she received the terrible news that she had an uncommonly aggressive form of breast cancer with a poor prognosis.

The pair had initially intended to get married on December 30, 2017, but they quickly realized they would have to move the date forward due to the cancer’s quick progression.

The presence of metastases, or daughter tumors, frequently dictates how serious a patient’s cancer is. The scenario in Heather’s case quickly deteriorated.

But it was finally time on December 22, over a year after Dave had popped the question. While Heather was in the hospital, surrounded by family and friends, a stunning wedding took place.

According to Christina Karas, one of Heather’s closest friends, bridesmaid, and replacement photographer, “She was determined to marry her soul mate.”

By that time, Heather’s body was so weak that her family was prepared to just cover her with the dress as a blanket.

She eventually succeeded in donning the gown inside the hospital chapel, and the wedding could now get started.

Still, Heather had to work hard at every action—every word, every breath, every movement. She struggled to muster the courage to say her vows.

These words would be her last, which was appropriate.

“It was a miracle,” Christina proclaimed.

“She was joyful even as she raised her arms and realized she would perish. She merely desired a party atmosphere.

“Everyone cried,” Christina continued. We were all aware that this was our last opportunity to spend time with her, so we treasured every second.

Although David’s day was marred by grief and heartbreak, it was most definitely filled with love.

She was lovely and felt secure, David said.

I observed her ailment. I could see how hurt she was, yet she persisted until she wed me. How much you can love someone is incredible.

Heather breathes her last.
Heather responded “Yes” and left this world just 18 hours later. She had just turned 31.

The funeral for Heather was held at the Plantsville Congregational Church on December 30, the day Dave and Heather had originally intended to get married. The couple had selected the exact same location for their wedding.

Christina explains, “It was an incredibly difficult day. “The world has lost a wonderful person.”

Since then, Christina has published photos of the pair that she snapped at their wedding. They have moved people’s hearts everywhere.

It goes without saying that everyone involved has had a sad moment, but I’m delighted that this narrative may be used to inspire a lot of others.
