The rock world is mourning the loss of a legendary guitarist, as Phil Campbell—longtime member of the iconic heavy metal band Motörhead—has died at the age of 64.

Campbell passed away following complications from a “complex, major operation,” after what his family described as a long and courageous battle in intensive care.

His death was confirmed in a heartfelt statement shared by his sons, who remembered him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, affectionately known as “Bampi.”

Born in Pontypridd, Wales, Campbell rose to fame when he joined Motörhead in 1984, becoming a central part of the band’s sound for more than three decades. He remained with the group until its dissolution in 2015 following the death of frontman Lemmy Kilmister.
