Stratford Police Identify 75-Year-Old Bridgeport Man Killed in Ferry Boulevard Crash

Stratford, CT — A tragic car accident in Stratford has claimed the life of a 75-year-old man from Bridgeport.

The Stratford Police Department has officially identified the victim as Stephen Ferik, who died following a single-vehicle crash on Ferry Boulevard (Route 130) earlier this month.

The accident occurred around 9:10 a.m. on Monday, July 1, near the intersection of Ferry Boulevard and East Main Street.

According to police, Ferik was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene, but despite their efforts, Ferik was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

A Community in Shock

Local residents who live near the busy roadway expressed shock and sadness at the news. Many noted that while Ferry Boulevard is a well-traveled route, fatal accidents in that specific area are relatively rare.

“It’s heartbreaking to know someone lost their life just driving through our neighborhood,” said one nearby resident. “It’s a reminder of how fragile life can be.”

Investigation Underway

Stratford police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. While they have not released specific details about what may have caused the vehicle to veer off or crash, no other vehicles were involved, and foul play is not suspected at this time.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether a medical emergency may have contributed to the incident.

Remembering Stephen Ferik

Friends and neighbors describe Stephen Ferik as a quiet but kind man, known for his reliability and warmth. He had lived in Bridgeport for many years and was reportedly retired, enjoying time with family and close friends.

No funeral arrangements have been publicly announced yet, but condolences and support have been pouring in from the community and local faith groups.

Safety Reminder

The Stratford Police Department has used this incident as a moment to remind drivers — especially older adults — to be mindful of their health and vehicle safety before getting behind the wheel.

Drivers experiencing dizziness, fatigue, or symptoms of illness should avoid driving and seek medical attention when needed.

Anyone with additional information about the crash is urged to contact the Stratford Police Department.
