Hi, Dad. I miss you.

“The Wrong Number”

Ella received a text at midnight:
“Hi, Dad. I miss you.”

She stared at the screen. It was a wrong number — she had no children.

She almost ignored it, but something about it tugged at her heart. So she replied:

“I’m not your dad, but I’m here. Want to talk?”

The person on the other end said they just needed someone to listen. That night, they talked for hours.

Over the next few weeks, they messaged every night. They never exchanged real names — just comfort, just kindness.

Then one day, the messages stopped.

A month passed. Silence.

Until a letter arrived in her mailbox.

No name. No return address.
Just a note that said:
‘You saved my life. Thank you.’
