A top Trump-era immigration official has abruptly left their post under murky circumstances following the quiet withdrawal of the U.S. government from a little-known international agreement designed to share immigrant data across borders.
The surprise exit has raised questions about internal conflicts within federal agencies and the broader direction of U.S. immigration enforcement.
The official, whose departure was confirmed late last week by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sources, had been a key architect of the administration’s hardline immigration policies.
