Trump Border Czar Vows Jail Time for FBI Leakers

President Trump’s border czar Tom Homan has accused the FBI of leaking information about upcoming raids targeting illegal immigrants—and threatened to jail those responsible.

“We think it’s coming from inside,” he said, speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News on Tuesday, referring to leaks to the media about recent ICE raids in Colorado.

Homan also blamed the FBI for leaked information about a large, upcoming raid in California that’s expected to happen before the end of the month, saying, “some of the information we are receiving tends towards the FBI.”

That raid is reported to be so large that FBI and DEA officers are being called in to support ICE officers.

Homan said it was “only a matter of time” before officers were harmed by the leaks, saying it was possible that “bad guys” could be sitting in wait for the officers to show up and ambush them.

Hannity asked Homan how certain he was that the FBI is involved, who replied, “I talked to the deputy attorney general this week and they’ve opened up a criminal investigation. He thinks the information is coming from [the FBI].”

Criminal investigations are taking place to try and identify those responsible for leaking information about the raids, he said.

“We’ll let that investigation play out,” he said, adding, “But some of the leads point that way.”

If the leakers are caught, Homan threatened that “not only will this person lose their job [and] they will lose their pension, they will go to jail, they’re going to criminally prosecute,” he said.

Trump came to power with the promise to carry out the “largest deportation operation in American history,” but so far the raids appear to have had varying levels of effectiveness.

Raids in Chicago involved 400 agents knocking on hundreds of doors, leading to only one arrest of a member of the Venezualan Tren de Aragua gang.
